As predicted earlier, Mumbai and suburbs had a spurt in the weather activity in the past 24 hours. Santacruz observatory recorded 38mm rainfall, the highest 24-hour rainfall of July so far. The other regional observatory at Colaba registered 12mm rainfall. The sharp showers continued this morning also and are expected to slow down later in the evening. The intensity and spread will become minimal once again from tomorrow onwards.

There is a low-pressure area associated with cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan. It was expected that the surge would build up along the Konkan Coast, albeit temporarily. Heavy rainfall has been recorded along the Konkan region, south of Mumbai. Harnai and Ratnagiri recorded 94mm and 111mm rainfall in the past 24 hours. Intense showers will continue today as well.

The low-pressure area over Rajasthan will move northwest and weaken too in the next 36 hours. The other monsoon system as a depression is now lying over Jharkhand. This system will track along Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and West Uttar Pradesh. It is likely to keep a safe distance from the Konkan Coast and is unlikely to strengthen the surge again. The offshore trough will also remain weak over South Gujarat and Konkan. No fresh weather system is likely over the Bay of Bengal until 24th July.

Under all the above circumstances, rains will remain mild and scanty for Mumbai. Very light rainfall is expected between 16th and 18th July 2025. Mostly light but a few moderate showers are expected along the Konkan Coast and Mumbai between 19th and 21st July. Scattered heavy rainfall, albeit with short spells, is likely between 23rd and 25th July 2025. Typical Mumbai heavy rains will remain in abeyance till the end of the fourth week of July.
