The Southwest Monsoon has strengthened significantly across parts of North and Central India, triggering severe rainfall alerts in multiple regions. A combination of low-pressure systems and cyclonic circulations is fueling widespread rain and thunderstorms, with gusty winds reported across several states. Authorities and residents are advised to remain alert as weather conditions remain unstable over the next 24 hours.

Uttar Pradesh: Heavy Rainfall Batters Western Districts

Intermittent spells of moderate to heavy rain, accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph), are expected in several districts including Agra, Aligarh, Badaun, Bareilly, Bijnor, Gautam Buddha Nagar (Greater Noida), Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Saharanpur. In Saharanpur specifically, pleasant weather with an overcast sky will prevail, while heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue for the next 24 hours.

Uttarakhand: Persistent Rain Across Hills and Plains

Several districts of Uttarakhand including Dehradun, Nainital, Almora, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Udham Singh Nagar are likely to witness moderate rain and thundershowers with gusty winds during the next 8–12 hours. Hilly areas may experience reduced visibility and slippery roads.

Chhattisgarh: Short-Term Rain Alert

Many districts in Chhattisgarh, including Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Korba, and Mahasamund, are under a 3–4 hour alert for light to moderate rain with gusty winds. The weather system affecting this region may move eastward, possibly extending rain activity into adjoining areas.

Himachal Pradesh: Mid-Hills and Valleys to Remain Wet

Widespread moderate rain and thunderstorms are likely in Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, and Kangra over the next 4–6 hours. Higher reaches like Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur may see sudden weather changes, urging travelers and locals to proceed with caution.

West Bengal: Scattered Showers Expected

Parts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, and North 24 Parganas, are expected to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds during the next 4–6 hours. Commuters in Kolkata should plan accordingly to avoid traffic snarls.

Public Advisory:

Stay updated with local weather forecasts, avoid waterlogged areas, and secure loose outdoor objects during gusty winds. Farmers are advised to manage irrigation accordingly and delay fertilizer application until after major spells of rain have passed.
