The city recorded only 32.7 mm rainfall against the normal of 80.6 mm in June. There was only trace rainfall at most places during the past 24 hours. July and August are the rainiest months for the national capital. July has an average monthly rainfall of 195.8 mm. Also, the base observatory Safdarjung has exceeded this figure consistently for the last 8 years. This weather station registered rainfall of 259.3 mm during July 2025.
The seasonal trough is extending from Punjab to North Bay of Bengal in the lower levels and is keeping proximity to Delhi. A western disturbance will also affect Northwest India from July 2 onwards. Under the combined influence of these two systems, scattered rains are likely over Delhi and suburbs during this week. Monsoon onset is expected within the next 2–3 days. The intensity and spread of rains will increase between July 5 and July 7, 2026.
