The Weather Systems Over The Country

The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Bikaner, Churu, Lucknow, Patna, Bankura, Diamond Harbour, and then extends southeastwards into the east-central Bay of Bengal.

A cyclonic circulation persists over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. The system is tilting southwestwards with height.

Another cyclonic circulation is present over North Gujarat and adjoining Southwest Rajasthan, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.

The western disturbance, earlier seen as a cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan and adjoining areas, has become less marked. However, the associated trough in the middle tropospheric westerly winds, with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level, continues to run roughly along Longitude 72°E to the north of Latitude 32°N.
