Mumbai continue to reel under highly humid and muggy conditions of pre-monsoonal weather. So far, the showers have remained far and few. In the first week of June, most pockets of the city witnessed dry weather conditions. Colaba and Santacruz have recorded 2mm and 13mm rainfall during this period. Monthly normal rainfall for June is 526.3mm, but most of it is realized after the arrival of monsoon. In the past 24 hours, Colaba had trace of rainfall and Santacruz remained dry. Patchy rainfall activity will continue till the weekend.

There is a cyclonic circulation over the east-central Arabian Sea, off Konkan Coast in the middle levels of atmosphere. Weather activity in association with the system will be confined to Goa and South Konkan region. Mumbai-Alibag axis will lie on the outer peripherals and will observe scanty rainfall till Friday, 12th June. Southern parts of Konkan, including Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg will have moderate to heavy showers. Mumbai will have to wait and decent monsoonal showers are likely between 14th and 16th June 2026.

The southwest monsoon has advanced rapidly along the West Coast. The northern limit passes through Devgad (Sindhudurg) and is likely to advance further covering Ratnagiri and reach the outskirts of Raigad in the next 48 hours. Mumbai will have to wait for monsoon and the arrival may overshoot its normal date of 11th June. As such, there is lot of variability in the arrival of Mumbai monsoon. Last year, the monsoon arrived on 26th May, the earliest ever recorded. And, in 2023, it was delayed by nearly two weeks and the onset was on 25th June. On majority of the occasions, the monsoon has been arriving within +/- 5 days of the normal date of 11th June. This year also, it will keep that record, as well.
