As on expected lines, Delhi woke up to a cloudy sky with light rainfall in many areas. Base station Safdarjung recorded 0.4 mm and Lodi Road Office had 1 mm rainfall till 8:30 a.m. today morning. More showers are likely today. Noticeable dip in mercury levels is expected over the next 3 days and rise thereafter.
Small-scale cyclonic circulations are marked over Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in the close vicinity of Delhi. An east-west trough is running in the lower levels from North Punjab to Southwest Uttar Pradesh, keeping close proximity to Delhi. An active Western Disturbance is moving across North Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir. Under the combined influence, mountains and plains of North India have witnessed fairly widespread rainfall in the past 24 hours. The weather activity will continue for the next 48 hours and extend to cover Delhi/NCR, today and tomorrow.
Delhi and the suburbs will have intermittent rain and showers through the day. Spread and intensity will increase in the evening and night. Strong winds accompanied by thundershowers and lightning will become more frequent during the night. The activity will continue tomorrow as well. Isolated hailstorm is quite likely in some areas.
Significant drop in temperature is likely over the next three days. Mercury may not cross 30°C today and tomorrow. Appreciable rise to mid-30s is expected on the weekend. Broad clearance from the weather activity is expected on Thursday, 09th April. After the passage of the system, surface and low-level winds will become stronger between 09th and 12th April. These winds will resist any sharp rise of temperature during this week.
