Key Takeaways:
- Temperatures in Delhi have crossed 36°C twice this month, staying above normal levels

Delhi temperature has been on the rise for the last three days. Scanty rains and absence of dense clouds have triggered an increase in the mercury level over NCR. Safdarjung recorded a day maximum of 36.2°C, above normal by about 4°C. This was the second time this month that mercury crossed 36°C, the highest so far being 36.8°C, registered on 11th Mar 2026. The city has recorded very light rainfall in some parts during the past 24 hours. The base observatory has recorded a total of 18.9 mm rainfall this month, very close to the normal of 19.1 mm. More rains are expected today and tomorrow. There could be a short breather around mid-week, and the showers will resume again. With the cloudy sky and fleeting showers in some parts, the temperature may have marginal changes today and tomorrow. The maximum temperature is likely to exceed 35°C today.
There is a western disturbance moving across North Afghanistan and North Pakistan region. An induced cyclonic circulation is marked over Northwest Rajasthan. There is another low-level cyclonic circulation over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh. An east-west trough connecting these two circulations is passing close to Delhi. Also, another western disturbance is likely to arrive over the northern mountains on 02nd April. Under the influence of these, Delhi/NCR will have rain and thundershowers, spread over large pockets for the next few days, between 30th March and 08th April 2026.
Very little cloud cover is likely during daytime, and so the mercury will rise above 35°C today. The weather activity is expected to start in the late hours today and impact mostly at night. Weather will clear up tomorrow during the day, but the activity will resume at night, yet again. 01st and 02nd April will have minimal weather activity but catch up later from 03rd April onward, and this time for a longer duration. There is a chance of hailstorm activity over the city and suburbs between 06th and 08th April. For the next two days, flashes of lightning accompanied by thunderstorms and strong surface winds are likely. Most of the weather activity during the next one week will be in the late evening and night.
