A depression over the East-Central Arabian Sea continues to persist. The weather system has been loitering over the area, literally wandering in all directions. It has now moved northeastward and is likely to continue on this track for the next 24 hours. This movement will bring it closer to the coast, but simultaneous weakening is likely over the next 48 hours. The remnant of the system will keep the weather activity going, albeit on a reducing note, for the next five days or so.

Most parts of Gujarat witnessed unseasonal weather activity in the past 24 hours. Moderate showers occurred over central Gujarat and Saurashtra, whereas the rest of the state received light rainfall. The state capital Gandhinagar recorded 61 mm and Baroda 27 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. The twin city of Ahmedabad also registered modest rainfall of 11 mm during this period. North Gujarat and the Kutch region experienced light and patchy rainfall.

As the depression nears the coastline, more showers are likely over the southern coast of Saurashtra, next to the Gulf of Cambay. These showers will extend to central and interior parts of Gujarat as well over the next two days. The probable places include Mahuva, Bhavnagar, Veraval, Somnath, Amreli, Junagadh, Anand, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Gandhinagar, and Vallabh Vidyanagar.

The sea surface temperatures over the northeast Arabian Sea, next to Kutch and the western coast of Saurashtra, are slightly lower than in other regions. Also, the proximity to land erodes the base of weather systems due to frictional effects. Therefore, the depression is likely to lose its strength gradually. The spread and intensity of the weather activity will reduce, more so after 48 hours. Complete cessation of activity, followed by broad clearance, is likely after 4th November 2025.
